Jim Semmens from Design
Craft SA was doing his own financial records in hand written cash book.
He was getting by in as much as he was able to do a BAS and could reconcile
his cheque account. However, these records tended to be made only when
deadlines demanded and he had no time to measure his profitability.
We reconcile Jim’s books at the beginning of each month, and review
his sales and margins. Jim now knows from month to month what his turnover
and profit are doing and can monitor nett profit against gross profit
to make sure he is charging proper margins when quoting for jobs.
Brauer Natural Medicine of Tanunda has a long and successful history in
producing natural pharmaceuticals. The company has grown considerably
since 1999 and required a software package to manage its warehouse distribution.
Brauer considered alternatives but they were two to three times the cost
of ABS Accounting system, typically $80,000 compared with $30,000 for
ABS. Brauer is licensed for 15 users and can track batches of goods as
required by the Therapeutic Goods Administration of the Australian Government.
Kris le Duff of the Falie Sailing Ship company, needed a database to track
people and organisations that had taken cruises on the Falie sailing ship.
The organisation recorded information on passengers such as food needs
(vegetarian, diabetic), cabin requirements, and likelihood of sailing
again on another tour.
We provided a database that made it very quick to register passengers,
groups of passengers such as social clubs from people’s employment.
Now that this information is stored electronically, it can be searched
on a variety of criteria so that potential repeat customers can be followed
up.
Inta Rumpe is the Administration Manager of the Ethnic Schools Association
in Australia and was recording the finances in a hand written book. While
these records were neat and extremely accurate, preparing monthly financial
statements was a time consuming business. BKR Walker Wayland, the accountants
for the Association recommended they install MYOB and BKR asked Electronic
Business Management to set up the accounts and train Inta on how to record
transactions. After three short lessons, Inta was happily recording transactions
and preparing board reports.
